I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, located on the coast of the beautiful state of California. I resigned from my dream job with Ron Carpenter Ministries/ Redemption Church at the birth of my gorgeous baby girl, and I am married to a wonderful man of God. Life hasn't always been easy, however, through our Lord Christ Jesus, all things are possible and have been made possible. So far, this journey is proof of that. Endometriosis, Infertility, Anxiety, and Gastroparesis was never to have the final say, our beautiful and healthy baby girl is proof of that.
Due to the pandemic I had to choose between raising my baby girl and working a full time job, as all options of daycare were shut down, so I chose to become a stay at home Mama. However, along my Postpartum journey I began to succumb to the heaviness that many women experience as they manage navigating not only the birth of their baby, but the birth of their new lives, new body, and new complexities of home/ work life. Having spent my entire pregnancy and postpartum journey isolated from friends and family due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, I struggled at times, and decidedly created a space that would allow me to express myself, even if no one else cared to pay attention. I pivoted my social media from a chronic illness specific perspective to a much lighter, creative, and real version of what I was going through at home.
During this time, I had one viral Tik Tok video and I began to realize that women all over the world were often times feeling and sadly looking just as tired, exhausted, and isolated as I was. Many of us birthing 'Pandemic Babies' were struggling to find our footing in a yet unstable, and scary world. Women began reaching out asking about things I was trying, food I was preparing, and asking questions about my home life when they saw familiarities and were looking for help.
This website, Small Meal Big Faith, was once a blog about my chronic illness journey, day by day detailing some of the struggles and experiences of a newly married girl just trying to figure out what was wrong with her. Small Meal Big Faith was birthed out of the very small meals my body could tolerate, and the big faith needed to even get up in the morning. Today, this website too has pivoted to reflect just how far God has brought me, and our little family. I'm a miracle walking, and so is my daughter... though, the more I think about it, aren't we all? We really should be celebrating that part.
Though some days are #smallmealbigfaith, all days are #goanyway.
